RDC Closure Criteria

What closed means for RDC: the criteria and the evidence list.

On this page

Closed is a contract: a short list of statements that are all true on the final RTL. If any statement is false or unproven, the design is not closed no matter how small the open count looks.

    The evidence list

    Item

    Closed means

    Reset intent

Frozen, reviewed, and matching the final RTL: every reset port has a row and every register maps to one domain.

    Structural analysis

Re-run on the final RTL with the final intent: zero open defects.

    Finding disposition

Every finding is fixed, accepted with proof, or covered by an approved, unexpired waiver.

    Waivers

Each waiver names its evidence, its reviewer, and its expiry; none has expired.

    Dynamic checks

Reset-aware tests and assertions pass on the final RTL, covering mid-operation, partial, and ordered release.

    Release ordering

Every sequenced domain is proven to stay in reset until its dependencies are out.

    Change delta

Every RTL or intent change since the last clean run has been re-analysed; nothing is closed on stale results.

    How signoff is recorded

Each item names its evidence: the intent revision, the analysis run, the finding list with dispositions, the waiver records, and the test results. The owner of each item signs that the evidence exists and matches the final RTL. A missing signature or a pointer to a stale run leaves the item open.

    Common pitfall

A clean report from last week plus a small RTL fix this week is not a clean design. Any RTL or intent change re-opens the change-delta item until the analysis and the affected dynamic checks re-run.

    Interview

Expect: what does RDC-closed mean on your project? Answer with the evidence list in one breath: frozen intent, zero open defects on final RTL, every finding dispositioned, waivers approved and unexpired, dynamic checks green, ordering proven, and no stale runs.

Check yourself All items are closed except the change delta: one small RTL fix landed after the clean run. Is the design closed?

No. The fix could add or move a crossing, so the analysis and the affected dynamic checks must re-run before closure.

Check yourself A waiver was approved three months ago with a 60-day expiry and the RTL is unchanged. Is its finding still closed?

No. The waiver has expired, so the finding is open again until the waiver is renewed with fresh evidence and approval.
