Scenario: MMMC Storm

A new low-voltage mode adds scenarios overnight and one of them fails thousands of endpoints that no earlier run showed. Walk it from symptom to fix and practise telling it.

  • 4topics
  • 4lessons

Scenario-based questions ask you to reason aloud through a messy, realistic situation. This one is a multi-corner multi-mode storm: a new mode, a bigger matrix, and a failure that appears in exactly one scenario. The four lessons give the situation, the investigation in order, the root cause with the fix, and how to narrate it in about a minute.

Lesson

After it you can...

The Scenario

Restate the situation and the first questions to ask.

Investigation

Localise the failure by scenario attributes and by delay ratio.

Root Cause and Fix

Explain temperature inversion and the shared-segment fix plan.

How to Narrate It

Tell the story with Assumption, Mechanism, Trade-off, Evidence.

Tip

All numbers and names in this scenario are generic and illustrative; no company or product appears.

Check yourself What makes this a good interview scenario?

It has a clear symptom, several plausible wrong turns (derates, constraints, parasitics), and a root cause that depends on understanding corners rather than on a trick.
